The Nokia 2.4, Nokia 3.4 and Nokia 8.3 5G have just been announced by HMD Global. In addition, the new “Nokia Earbuds Lite” will be available in the UK from October.

The Nokia 2.4 and Nokia 3.4 are available now, with the Nokia 8.3 5G available for pre-ordered from Nokia.com/phones and Amazon UK for £499 with orders received before October 21st getting £100 of accessories. Let’s start with the 8.3 5G then shall we?

Nokia 8.3 5G

With Android 10 on board, this 5G handset uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G CPU and either comes with a rather low 64GB of storage (and 6GB RAM) or 128GB storage (and 8GB RAM) depending on the model. For the £499 entry price we’re assuming you’re going to be getting the 64GB storage model, which is a tad small in 2020. You do, at least, get a microSD slot, so go buy a card.

Equipped with a 6.81″ FHD+ 20:9 1080×2400 pixel screen, this has dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC and side fingerprint sensor and uses a 4500mAh battery charged via USB-C. It weighs in at 227g, which is a little on the hefty side.

Camera-wise you get ZEISS optics – a 64 megapixel f/1.89, ultrawide 12 megapixel f/2.2 (120°), a 2 megapixel depth sensor and a 2 megapixel macro lens.

The big push on this is the 5G connectivity, the PureView quad camera setup (which is said to work well in the dark and produces “Cinematic Video”), plus a guarantee of up to 2 years of upgrades and 3 years of monthly security updates.

Nokia 2.4

The Nokia 2.4 will be available from late October with 2GB RAM and 32GB of storage for a mere £99. It’ll be powered by Android 10 and a MediaTek Helio P22 CPU. There’s going to be a couple of models – the base 2GB / 32GB one and a 3GB RAM / 64GB handset. Both have microSD slots.

Screen-wise, not too bad – a 6.5″ HD+ 20:9 1600×720 unit. There’s WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, a 4500mAh battery again and a rear double-camera arrangement in the form of a 13 megapixel main lens and a 2 megapixel depth sensor. Up front is a 5 megapixel selfie. It’s got one of those old-school microUSB charging ports, but does at least get NFC for your contactless payments.
