Not long ago, you could not download iPhone apps with cellular data over 200MB. They needed the help of Wi-Fi.
In iOS 13, however, Apple removed this restriction. By enabling an option under Settings, you can now download apps larger than 200MB using mobile data. This feature was carried over to iOS 14 as well.
So without further ado, let's go through cellular data downloading apps larger than 200MB. We'll also show you a handy trick if you're using an iPhone 6 or earlier with iOS 12.
Download apps larger than 200MB using cellular data in iOS 14 or iOS 13.
Open Settings on your iPhone. Scroll down and tap iTunes and App Store . In iOS 14, it was renamed to just App Store . Now tap on App Downloads .
Here you can see three options:
Always allow : With this option, all apps are automatically based on cellular data downloaded. Download permission is always required when roaming. Ask for more than 200MB. : You will be notified and asked for permission to download apps larger than 200MB. Ask first. : Always asks for permission to download apps, regardless of their size
Select the option you want and download apps over 200MB without a Wi-Fi connection.
If your device is running iOS 12, you can download apps up to 200MB of cellular data on your iOS device. While this is not directly supported by Apple, there is a trick you can use to get around this limitation.
Downloading apps over 200 MB without WiFi in iOS 12
First, open the App Store and go to the app you want to download. Then tap GET . Then confirm with your Face ID, Touch ID or your password.
You will now receive a notification that says “Connect to a Wi-Fi network to download [App name]”. Don't worry, tap OK . Now go to the start screen .
The app icon should appear on your home screen until you connect to Wi-Fi.
Next, start Settings → General . Select Date and Time . Toggle Set automatically to Off.
Now tap on the date and move it forward 1-2 days.

It's that easy to download large apps with mobile data. Useful apps like Uber (over 280MB), Lyft (over 245MB) and more are over 200MB in size. If you were outside (without Wi-Fi) and had to install one of these apps, without knowing these tricks you would be in a difficult position.
